2022: Next season and Beyond
It has been no secret that Kirkland FC has desired to play their games at Lake Washington High School since the club's formation in 2017. "We feel that we have been doing a disservice to the people of Kirkland by playing our games outside of the city. We have let small roadblocks or obstacles interfere with putting our very best foot forward for our community. If COVID and 2021 have taught us anything, it is that we will not let those obstacles get in the way of what we are trying to achieve", Siedenburg states firmly in an interview with Club Media Director Agazi Birkner. "One way or another, we will be playing in Kirkland in 2022 and beyond".
This exciting news comes off the back of equally exciting news from the league: the Western Washington Premier League announced in August that it would be rebranding as the Cascadia Premier League for the 2022 season and beyond. You can read the full article on Cascadia's Website. Part of the rebrand was to align with the National Independent Soccer Association, or NISA.
Cascadia's goal is to create pathways for players and clubs to reach the next level. By partnering with NISA, clubs, and players now have a major incentive to play for Kirkland FC as NISA's pro teams will look directly at affiliate leagues like Cascadia to fill out their rosters.
