Kirkland, WA - June 6th, 2021
The 2021 season has seen a lot of tough competition. The season started off slowly seeing the Goats draw 4 games and losing 3.
"It was a tough start to the season" said head coach Josimar Evangelista, "and the competition is very good. We know we have a good squad, and we started to show that in the last month or so." Kirkland took on Seattle Umoja in the Washington State Super Cup and came down from a 3-1 defacit to win on penalties. "It was a turning point for us" said club captain Lukas Isaacson." We have had a tough start with player injuries and not being able to hold onto a lead. This time we showed our character and fought till the end."
Following the Super Cup win the Goats picked up their first league win against Harbor Force. Club owner Trent Siedenburg said the following about that game: "It was important for us to get that first league win. It was like a breath of fresh air. Baring one game, we have been in every contest and for whatever reason couldn't cross the line at the end of the game. I think this game was important for us for the rest of the season as we feel like we have performed better than the results show. We know now that we can win in this tough season and this will give us a lot of confidence."
The second half of the season is important as the Goats are looking to move up the table. Currently in 7th (see table), there is still an outside shot to win the league. It would require a strong second half winning most of the remaining 6 games, and teams above dropping points. Wenatchee All Stars is the team to beat, sitting top of the table after playing 6 games with 5 wins and 1 draw. The next match will be against Federal Way FC on June 12th (get tickets!!) followed by the second round of the Super Cup against Sporting International of the UPSL (get tickets).

As always, Go Goats!
