Kirkland FC 1 - 1 Federal Way FC

Kirkland FC traveled to Saghalie Park to take on Federal Way in their second game of the 2021 season. Both the Goats and Federal Way were coming into this game having lost the previous weekend. Contests in between the two clubs had always been close in the past and this game was no different. The Goats started out strong in the first half and passed the ball well. They eventually broke the deadlock in the 27th minute as Lukas Isaacson played Sam Carpenter in on the left side of the box. Carpenter took the ball in stride and finished near post to put the Goats up 1-0. Kirkland FC continued to create chances throughout the rest of the first half, but could not add to their lead.

The second half started similar to the first half, but as time went on Federal Way started to grow into the game. They consistently applied pressure, which lead to a penalty being awarded in the 70th minute. Alvaro Osornio for Federal Way stepped up and took the penalty well beating goal keeper Bruce Corrie. It was Corrie's second time facing a penalty in as many games this season.

The game finished with a flurry of chances for both sides but the final score stayed 1-1. Head coach Trent Siedenburg had the following to say after the match:

"We worked hard in training this week on keeping possession and we accomplished that in the first half. The second half we let that drop which allowed Federal Way to get back into the game. We know we had moments where we were playing lights out. Now it's about improving on that so we can put together a full 90 minutes. Congratulations to Sam Carpenter on his first goal for the first team!

The Goats will be in action next on April 10th vs Nido Aguila C.A. Kick off is scheduled for 6:00 PM at Robinswood Park in Bellevue. A live stream will be made available for the game. You can access thelink here.
